Michael Saylor Proposes Council To Regulate Announcements of Announcements
Michael Saylor has proposed yet another council in order to regulate Bitcoin/Bitcoiners some way following controversy over Dennis Porter's announcement of an announcement. Saylor is reportedly consulting with Cary Gardone on the topic. Saylor stated that him and others feel that the industry needs a lot of standards and general regulation, and the wild west of announcements of announcements needs to come to an end if the industry is to get any real respect.
"All these influencers running around trying to farm engagement needs to end. We are the verge of Bitcoin mooning, finally achieving regulator clarity, and we can't just have anyone and everyone running around posting Breaking tweets. It's a bad precedent. If you tweet from a public companies account, or are affiliated with a public company, you often need to run your tweets by legal first. While we can't expect everyone to run their tweets by lawyers first there needs to be a more controlled framework around announcements of announcements. The thing people need to learn about hyperbitcoinization is that breaking tweets have the power to crush or enrich nation states, and people need to tread carefully. My proposed council would create clarity around standards of announcing announcements responsibly."
Porter immediately responded by clarifying his announcement of an announcement by stating that his announcement of an announcement actually transcends announcements of announcements.
This should go without saying because Dennis Porter has been the most influential political lobbyist in human history and his announcements of announcements truly are in a league of their own. To apply this council's regulations to him would be like little league baseball umpires having a say over how to regulate MLB sportsball games.
Bitcoin Podcaster, Marty Bent, was critical of the proposed council, stating, "Saylor keeps thinking he can form these councils to regulate everything. We don't need councils. We don't need regulations. We need free markets. Dennis and other influencers should be able to make announcements of announcements whenever they want. This is a first amendment protected activity."
Bent has historically been one of the leading figures of the emerging culture war between those who have fully submitted to PODCONF's mandate of compliance to make number go up. They believe that the harder people follow the rules, the more people will be able to usher in Bitcoin adoption. The opposite side of the culture war believes that Bitcoin is inherently disruptive because it helps protect and facilitate noncompliant activities in general and that change will follow from people engaging in commerce efficiently, whether or not they actually have permission.
The council to regulate announcements of announcements is just the 7th proposed council Saylor has floated out there. If he keeps up on this pace, Bitcoin may become one of the most bureaucratic industries in the world. Some speculate that Saylor may be secretly playing 5d chess in order to actually encourage noncompliant announcements of announcements in order to increase the bullish energy around Bitcoin to pump his stock price.
