Mining Pools Announce Ladies Night To Attract More Women To Bitcoin
In an effort to incentivize more women to Bitcoin the top Bitcoin mining pools announced Thursday nights will be Ladies Night starting on August 1st. Female Bitcoiners will receive 1 free high priority transaction and a fee rate of 10 sats/vbyte on any and all subsequent transactions they make. Reactions to the new policy have been mixed.
The new collaboration was announced in Nashville last week at the Women in Bitcoin conference event where it was met with cheers and applause by the event's attendees. However, while some men in the male dominated industry say they welcome Ladies Night, not everyone is happy about it. "Women don't need to worry about Bitcoin. Their brains aren't evolved to understand thermodynamics and economics." said one Bitcoin pleb who isn't happy with the idea. Another critic called the move "sexist" and said Bitcoin is becoming increasingly hostile towards male values.
Still others are using the opportunity to schedule local Bitcoin meetups on Thursday nights at bars and pubs in their area in hopes of attracting women from their communities. "Sometimes I think Bitcoin is never going to make it to $100k. I can't wait forever to find a girlfriend. Us single guys need to be pro-active. I think the mining pools creating ladies night is an idea we should capitalize on as single men." Chad Grankus, organizer of the Des Moines, Iowa meetup said. "There are a lot of orangecel's out there who need this. Who am I to criticize it and deny them this chance?" He finished.
