Tucker Carlson Announces He's Starting A Bitcoin Podcast As Bitcoin Hits $60k
Tucker Carlson announced the release of his new Bitcoin podcast titled, "What Bitcoin Does" this morning as Bitcoin ripped past $60k, making him the world's biggest Bitcoin podcaster. Carlson is an independent journalist, primarily reporting on Twitter, blowing away the ratings over mainstream media agencies such as Fox, CNN, and MSNBC. Now he will be blowing away the ratings of mainstream Bitcoin podcasters like Peter McCormack, Marty Bent, Saifedean Ammous, and Anthony Pompliano.
Unlike other Bitcoin podcasters, Carlson will be exclusively broadcasting on Twitter, Fountain, Zap.Stream, Lightning.video, and bitcoinTV. While still using Twitter, Carlson shared his commitment to building the value for value ecosystem and supporting a more cypherpunk side of Bitcoin. He also shared that he had been researching Bitcoin topics using a nym on Stacker.News.
How this will impact sponsorships of the other podcasts is unknown at this time, but it is already being reported that River has decided to sponsor the show. There are also rumors that Unchained is looking to sponsor the show. The topic of the show is going to be the decline in cypherpunk focus of Bitcoin.
"My new Bitcoin podcast will showcase the decline in the cypherpunk focus on Bitcoin," Carlson said. "America is in decline and so is Bitcoin's focus on privacy, sovereignty, and disintermediating the banking industry. It seems like Wall Street and Bitcoin are morphing together which is really concerning. My specialty is making people discouraged about the current state of things on any particular topic so I will be hitting the ground running with this new podcast," He shared in a short video explaining his decision.
His video prompted a strong response from the Bitcoin community with varying opinions. Some people said Carlson is just a demoralization agent being used to discourage Bitcoiners from building citadels. Others say he is highlighting real issues that other Bitcoin podcasters are afraid to ask. Peter McCormack, likely insecure that he is being demoted to having the 2nd biggest Bitcoin podcast said, "Carlson is not a journalist like me. He's a mouthpiece for Putin. You should listen to my podcast instead of him."
McCormack has been critical of Carlson in the past and seems to have an ongoing rivalry going with him. When Carlson interviewed Putin, McCormack responded by one upping Carlson by flying to North Korea to interview Kim Jong Un and Xi Jinping. The ongoing rivalry will likely create some higher quality Bitcoin content, but it is likely that Tucker Carlson has no idea who Peter McCormack is yet.
